Nation’s top teenagers to debate at General Tommy Franks-hosted event

Students will spend time with general; receive coaching from experts and debate entitlement reform

EDMOND, OKLA. – Top high school students from across the country will visit Oklahoma this summer to spend time with Gen. Tommy Franks, learn from renowned leaders, and debate Medicare and Social Security reform. The July 12-17 leadership and debate camp, I Debate: Developing Leaders with General Tommy Franks, is hosted by the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute, the National Center for Policy Analysis and the Academy of Leadership & Liberty at Oklahoma Christian University (OC).

In addition to Gen. Franks, guest speakers during the July event will include John Goodman, National Center for Policy Analysis president and CEO; Mike Huckabee, former governor of Arkansas; Mike O’Neal, president of OC; Barbara B. Kennelly, member of the Social Security Advisory Board, former counselor to the commissioner of the Social Security Administration and former democratic congresswoman from Connecticut; Thomas Saving, NCPA senior fellow and former public trustee of the Social Security and Medicare Trust Funds; Peter T. Harbage, senior fellow at the Center for American Progress Action Fund and president of Harbage Consulting; and two-time softball Olympian Michele Mary Smith. The debate will be moderated by popular talk radio host Mike Gallagher. Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry will serve as one of the event’s judges.
